First edition of the Nuits de la lecture in Norway, at Fransk kulturhus

Fransk kulturhus is pleased to present the very first edition of the Nuits de la lecture (Reading Nights) in Norway, a series of events organized in France by the Centre national du livre. The theme for 2024 is the body.

The origins of the Nuits de la lecture

Created in 2017 by the French Ministry of Culture to celebrate the pleasure of reading, the Nuits de la lecture have been able to conquer, over the years, an increasingly large audience in France and abroad.

Theme for the event in 2024: the body

As specified by the Centre national du livre, this 2024 edition will be held around the theme of the body. The body as represented in literature offers an infinity of avatars, metamorphoses and poetic, literary, scientific, sociological and political reflections…

Over the course of four exceptional days and nights, between January 18 and 21, 2024, thousands of events will be scheduled throughout France and beyond its borders. In Norway, it is on January 19 at the premises of Fransk kulturhus that we invite children and parents to celebrate this event.

A program for all ages

The Nuits de la lecture are an opportunity to offer meetings and various activities reaffirming the essential place of books and reading for everyone. At Fransk kulturhus, you can enjoy a program that is both family-friendly and rich in reflection:

  • 4:15 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. – Story time with cuddle toys (for kids and their parents)

Come with your favorite cuddly toy (and your cushion, if you wish) to discover beautiful, original stories with your parents, wonderful tales where laughter, joy, dreams and imagination are present.

  • 4:30 p.m. – 5:30 p.m. – “speed-booking” meeting (for adults)

Bring a book that you read recently and enjoyed. Each participant will present their book to others in the speed-dating format to inspire the desire to read and share their favorites in French or Norwegian.

  • 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. – Conference “The body throughout life phases in Simone de Beauvoir” with Bente Christensen (in Norwegian)

The entrance is free but the number of seats is limited. Book your seats on this page.
