On April 12, the final of the International Language Competition (iLC) once again took place at Kristiansand katedralskole Gimle. Supporting foreign languages in schools in Norway, Fransk kulturhus is proud to be both a partner and sponsor of this national competition.

Encouraging language learning

The iLC competition aims to encourage young people to continue their language studies and to take an interest in the culture, history and, generally speaking, in the societies of the countries where the target language is spoken. For Fransk kulturhus, who has this same mission for French in the daily life of its French lessons and exams, didactic training and cultural activities, supporting this competition is quite natural.

Promoting foreign languages in schools

A competition such as iLC promotes a healthy spirit of competition between the different schools in the country, values the learning of their students, and creates links between their language teachers to exchange their didactic experiences and best practices.

The competition is designed to hone all language skills with a focus not only on grammar, spelling, vocabulary, oral comprehension and interaction, but also their cultural and even historical skills.

The 2024 finalists and winners

Reaching the final is already a great achievement, and Fransk kulturhus warmly congratulates all the finalists in the three categories: middle school, high school, and native language. And of course, special attention is given to the teams that made it to the podium.

Prizes to build confidence in French

Encouraging active practice of French, whether in class, through culture, or in everyday life, is one of the missions of Fransk kulturhus.
